“On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.’ And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.’” (John 20:19-23)

Now there was a garden in the place where he was crucified, and in the garden there was a new tomb in which no one had ever been laid. And so, because it was the Jewish day of Preparation and the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there.” (John 19:38-42)

Over the course of the next week we will celebrate the passion, death, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, starting with his triumphal entry on Palm Sunday. We will continue with his institution of the Eucharist on Maundy Thursday and his crucifixion on Good Friday, and keep watch at the tomb on Holy Saturday. And finally, we will rejoice in his resurrection both at the Easter Vigil on Saturday night and at our Easter services on Sunday morning. We would love for you to join us for all of these services!
